Upon learning that Speaker Nancy Pelosi was considering including substantial transportation infrastructure funding in an economic stimulus package, MIPRC’s chair Missouri Rep. Charlie Schlottach sent a letter to her on behalf of the MIPRC requesting that funding for passenger rail be included in the package.

In the letter, Rep. Schlottach specifically requests funding that would refurbish train equipment. He cites the need to bring additional train cars into service, which would stimulate the economy and create jobs, while improving the nation's transportation system.
