Midwestern states have received awards of more than $2.5 billion to date from the federal High Speed Intercity Passenger Rail (HSIPR) program. The Midwest's plans for fast, frequent passenger rail service across the region are starting to be realized. The federal funding will facilitate important improvements to key corridors and stations, as well as allow for joint equipment purchases of next generation passenger rail trainsets and locomotives.
